About OpenVentro

OpenVentro is a free guide for non-US founders deciding whether to form a US LLC. We start with the real problems — banking, the EIN wait, the Form 5472 filing trap — and we tell you when forming one is the wrong move, which is more often than the formation industry admits.

Who this is for

Founders living outside the United States who sell to a global or US-facing market — Shopify and Amazon sellers, freelancers, agencies, small SaaS and digital-product businesses — and who are weighing a US LLC for payment-rail access, USD banking, or credibility with US buyers. If a US LLC would make your situation worse, we say so. The verdict on several treaty countries is "don't form one."

How we work

Every country verdict and cluster page is built on a research base of sourced claims, each carrying its primary sources and the date we last verified it. We organize countries into five clusters — the shared pattern that explains why a US LLC helps, or hurts, for the founders inside it. Browse by country or by cluster.

How this is funded

The guidance is free. When a page recommends a formation service or a banking provider and you choose to use it, we may earn an affiliate commission at no extra cost to you. That arrangement never changes a verdict — a "don't form one" stays a "don't form one" whether or not there is a commission attached. Our affiliate relationships are disclosed, and the honest answer always comes first.

What we don't do

We are not lawyers, accountants, or tax advisers, and nothing here is legal or tax advice. Cross-border entity classification turns on your specific facts — verify any structural decision with a qualified adviser in your country before you file. When the right answer is "talk to a specialist," we say that too.
